Carlsbad Beach Proposal~Jake+Erica

I thrive on real moments, candid moments, life altering moments.  This marriage proposal was no exception.  My heart was beating loud and fast, as I hid out behind boulders, high on a cliff, above the Pacific Ocean, to discreetly capture Jake’s proposal to Erica.  From a sweet song, to a heartfelt proposal, embrace, laughter, and frolicking in the cool waves…This candid shoot was one of my all time favorites.  Here is the beautiful story of Jake and Erica’s engagement!

Sean + Britt- A Coronado Wedding

What could be more beautiful than a California “beach meets urban” wedding.  Britt and Sean chose the ideal  location to become husband and wife.  This sweet couple were married in Coronado, on a Friday evening, just as the sun began to set over Downtown.  The light was golden, and San Diego Bay shimmered with deep blues, for Britt, Sean, and their closest family members.  I absolutely adored photographing this intimate little park wedding.  I wish these newlyweds so many moments of joy and lasting happiness in their lives together.  Congratulations!

Steve + Kelsea ~ Ethereal Open Air Resort

Steve and Kelsea were married at the Ethereal Open Air Resort-an “out of the box” vintage, 40 acre garden, that was completely majestic.  The entire day felt surreal,  from airy green meadows, organic gardens, and lush orchards .  The details of the day were just gorgeous, including the most beautiful lace wedding dress, delicate sprigs of eucalyptus, and beautiful, heartfelt speeches.   Steve and Kelsea are two of the kindest, genuine, and humble people out there, so naturally there was an abundance of love from the couple’s closest friends and family.  I wish the newlyweds so much happiness as they embark on their new adventure as husband and wife.

Brooklyn’s Birth Story

What a unique “job” I have.  One day I’m photographing a husband and wife’s first kiss; the next, I’m clicking away while chasing toddlers around the beach at sunset.  Every now and then I document something so personal, that it transforms me, not just in the moment, but to the core.  Maybe it’s the anticipation, the adrenaline, the emotion, the tears.  It’s all of that and more.  There couldn’t be anything more meaningful than documenting the very first moment a tiny baby enters this beautiful world.  Instead of attempting to retell Brooklyn’s story with words, I’ve done my best to document this story with images.  Thank you to the Butcher family for trusting me to tell their birth story.

Billy + Rylee-A Mission Bay Engagement

This session was full of love and nostalgia as it took me back to just blocks away from where I spent my college days in South Mission Beach, San Diego.  I met up with Rylee and Billy at their darling, little apartment, overlooking Mission Bay.  I immediately fell in love with their sweet dog, Bailey, and their retro-style yellow kitchen.  After a quick Moscow Mule, I followed these two as the frolicked on beach cruisers and cuddled in sailboats beneath the warm Winter sunlight.  Just before sunset, we ventured to the Catamaran Hotel, where these two wrapped up in a blanket, and wandered through the Hotel’s lush, tropical gardens.  Billy and Rylee are just breathtakingly beautiful, and the chemistry between them is something like a dream.  Every so often I come across a couple that just leaves me in awe, and Billy and Rylee are one of them.
