FAQ

 FAQ-

What should my family wear to our session?

Nearly all of my sessions are outside- at the beach, in a field, or in a forest.  I love when families wear warm, rich tones that compliment each other.  Photos look beautiful when family members are all wearing the same tones, but not completely matching. Coordinating colors is wonderful, but matching tops and bottoms with family members should be avoided.  Wear something casual that feels comfortable.  Layers (thin scarves, sweaters, shawls etc) look great, and give you the ability to change up your look throughout the session.  Feel free to add a pop of color with your favorite accessory!

What time of day/weather is the best for photos?

Most outdoor sessions begin one to two hours before sunset.  Sunny and cloudy weather is great.  If your outdoor session is scheduled on a rainy day, we will reschedule.  Even a light drizzle has the ability to ruin your session.

I am not photogenic, what should I do?

Take a deep breath.  Rarely, have I met someone who loves being in front of the camera.  Just have fun and be yourself.  The best photo sessions are when couples and families interact with each other, act silly, and playful.  Don’t worry about the camera, you have a beautiful story to tell, and I want to tell it!

What do I need to bring to our session?

Feel free to bring your favorite blanket or quilt.  Don’t have a favorite blanket, don’t worry, I’ll always bring one of mine.  I also encourage clients to bring any props to help create the specific feel.  Families with small children have included crates, chairs, teepees, rocking horses, balloons, etc.  In general, I recommend fewer props, to keep the focus on your beautiful smiling faces.

Okay, the shoot is over, when will I receive my digital images?

During most times of the year, my turn around time is about one week for family/engagement/portrait sessions, and three weeks for weddings.  During the holiday season, you may expect a one week delay.

Do you offer professional printing?

Yes, professional printing is offered at an additional cost.  I’d love to help create a piece of art for your home, a professional photo book, prints, or enlargements.

When do I pay you, and what forms of payment do you accept?

Payment is due on the day of the session.  Courtney Welden Photography accepts cash, check, credit card, or venmo.
